Whitehill & Bordon Regeneration (Prince Philip Park)
Our flagship project is Whitehill & Bordon. Part of the catalyst that led to the creation of Urban Place Lab, the vision process at Whitehill & Bordon was borne out of a desire to create meaningful and tangible regeneration in a town that had seen a decade of public investment but with few visible results. The Urban Place Lab team has been leading the design coordination and vision for the regeneration of Whitehill & Bordon, since assisting Dorchester Group and Taylor Wimpey Major Developments in the successful competitive bidding process in 2014.
We are appointed as design champions, project masterplanners, and custodians of the project vision and Structuring Plan, operating with a meanwhile presence out of the development team offices on-site.
Creating a vision focused on delivering swift, tangible change, one that responded in earnest to the hidden strengths of the locality, led to our helping the joint venture client team score an unparalleled 100% on the placemaking assessment scale devised by the MoD landowners. This provided the client team with the confidence to add a 20% placemaking premium to the bottom line, resulting in a robust financial offer.
This upfront involvement has allowed us to publicly hold our clients and ourselves to account, to ensure the project remains true to the vision, and is enhanced and improved over time.
