Healthy Streets Wayfinding Project

Working with four local schools and several local interest groups, we designed an implementation project as part of NHS England’s Health New Town series.

Work included guerrilla-style activity to signpost more than 350 graphic indicators advising of healthy lifestyle, along a 3km underperforming pedestrian/cycle route, disability-experience simulations of crossing busy streets, and building-out a temporary community garden.

All told, we significantly increased numbers of on-street community ‘patrons’ and kickstarted a local community gardening movement, that joined up with two similar installations, leading to applications for future funding and initiatives.
